What was done...

Hello all,

This was a low key week in the CIC. We watched 2 episodes, No Exit and Deadlock.

I wish Hambo a speedy recovery and hope that all is well for everyone in the fleet.

Kobol awaits

Hello friends. I want to share the events of a spectacular session of the Battlestar Galactica Boardgame.

Robbie, Gorrman and I started the game, and Adina joined in halfway through, once we'd reached the sleeper-agent phase of the game.

We were, Zarek, Starbuck, Halo and Boomer respectively.

The game started with all hell breaking loose. First one basestar, then two, then galactica got shot up by the basestars. Helo was dicking around on Caprica, not helping, leaving Zarek and Starbuck alone to deal with the crisis. Once Helo joined the fight, shit got even worse! More civilian ships were in danger of being blown away and vipers were spread thin defending the fleet.

As we got closer to jumping away and leaving the cylons behind, destiny was against us, and our jump-prep clock got set back!

Starbuck jumped into a viper and got into the battle, where she single handedly took on 7 or 8 raiders, dodging their attacks, and then unleashing a hail of fire.

There had been no suspicious behaviour, so Robbie, Gorrman and I all figured each other to be humans.

More heavy raiders launched, and the skies were filled with raiders. Every civilian ship in the fleet was under threat of destruction.

Fortunately, Helo got to FTL and jumped the fleet away, with no casualties.

Wiping sweat from our brows, we then had a nice casual turn. With the exception of a centurion aboard the ship, we were able to repair damaged vipers and jump again without much trouble from the cylons.

We reached the sleeper agent phase. Adina joined the game (as boomer) and we all received a card telling us whether or not we were cylons. There was going to be at minimum one cylon operative, and at max two.

Boomer immediately began accusing everyone of being a cylon! (Ironic?) With a sabotaged cylon detector, we knew there was at least one cylon amongst us. After starbuck dispatched the centurion, we advanced towards our jump without much ado. The cylon(s) were laying low.

As we continued, the accusations intensified, and the group began to finger Helo as the cylon. Galactica then made another jump, putting it one jump away from victory. With few crises, the cylon(s) were running out of opportunities to really put the gears to the humans. Right then, a basestar and huge compliment of raiders jumped in! Or would have jumped in, had it not been for Starbuck's 'Secret Destiny' ability which avoided the cylon deployment altogether!

With jump-prep almost complete, Helo revealed himself as a cylon and threw starbuck in the brig (somehow), awaking to a gentle gel-bath aboard the resurrection ship. While Starbuck cooled her heels in the brig, Zarek revealed himself as a cylon too! We were shocked, Zarek had played it totally cool and had drawn no suspicion to himself. Turns out boomer's baseless accusations were somehow true all along! Zarek sabotaged CIC and the FTL control, sending boomer to sickbay. Fortunately for the humans, boomer was able to quickly get out and repair some of the damage Zarek had caused. Starbuck bailed herself out of the brig, and before the cylons could sew any more chaos, the fleet jumped away to Kobol, home of the gods, and won the game.

*REVISED* Nerds who've touched the other gender's junk, unite!

Wednesday is out (Doc. Cottle can't make it and it's a hockey night.)

Thursday is in! Who can do Thursday?

Thank you again for a lovely So Say We All Sunday.

Every second we're not together, watching or playing Battlestar, is a sad moment for me. So, as promised I'll try to organize a mid-week game night. Would someone like to host? Graveley house could work, but I think the game plays best if we have a large kitchen style table to all sit around, which I do not have.

How does (Trent picks a day out of a hat) Wednesday night work for everybody? (Tuesday night is the only night this week that I've got things goin' on.) I think we should start as early as possible to give us the most time, 6, 6:30? Maybe send out for food?

I promise I will play this game with you all. This is a promise, I intend to keep! And if you can't play this game because you don't have the frakin' guts, then you should just walk out of this cabin, while you still can.

Get Sweded

To see the glory of a classic art film, Predator, once it's been "sweded":

Gorrman brought up the brilliant idea that we should 'swede' battlestar! I love it.

So I thought I'd start a post to get people thinking about it. Maybe we could even start a collaborative document, like a google wave (I think that's what those things are for) where we could start brainstorming and figuring out how we might do it. I think we have to do it. It would be so much fun and it's our duty. Let's do it, while we still can.

Some ideas already:
Tell the enitre plot of the series in 10 minutes or less.
Use the Battlestar Galactica Boardgame pieces to do sweet animation of the space battles.
We'll have to sing all the songs from the show (Cristina, lookin' at you here! Oh and I'm working on my beatbox gamelan.)

PS Many thanks for the birthday side-bar photo! I'm so happy every time I look at it, which is often. Too often.
